Block (4) was assigned to YICOM on April 2001 to be managed and operated by its experienced staff and YICOM performed this duty from the first moment of assignment till the 30 of May 2007, a number of companies came afterwards to offer investment opportunities and the majority of these offers were focusing on conducting seismic surveys for the unexplored areas in order to examine & reveal the geological combination of the area, in the year 2005 senior officials in the ministry of oil and minerals recommended and instructed YICOM’s management to promote the block in an international bid to invest the block and operate it and the winner of this bid was Korean national oil corporation (KNOC), a FARMOUT (FOA) and (JOA) was signed later on may 2007 and a new joint company was established and named KNOC.YLTD (Yemen Limited) and started to operate the block.
